EcoReps call on fellow students to reduce energy and water use on campus

The average U.S. American consumes four to five times more energy than the global average. That might not come as a surprise—we all love our iPhones, laptops, stereos, microwaves, coffee makers, hot showers…the list could go on and on.

Laundry is responsible for more than 20 percent of water consumption in an average household. Come join us to learn some easy ways to conserve water and electricity while doing laundry. Bonus: You can make your own laundry detergent and create a personalized “turn the lights out” reminder!

When: Thursday, February 12, 5-7 p.m.

Where: Victor's and Ondine Lobby

Join us for a candlelight dinner at Victor’s to kick off Campus Conservation Nationals, a competition to conserve water and electricity. After dinner, stop by and make a sustainability pledge. There will be fun photo opportunities and a raffle!

PSU Bookstore’s philanthropy funds full-year sustainability internships

A $40,000 gift from the Portland State University Bookstore will fund eight internships designed to augment academic studies and prepare students for a career in sustainability.

PSU graphic design students designed the branding for Little Foot Red Ale. The project was led by Instittue for Sustainable Solutions Assistant Director Fletcher Beaudoin, who also serves on the Emerging Leaders Board for the Oregon Environmental Council.

Tom Potiowsky is the director of the Norhtwest Economic Research Center (NERC) and chair of PSU's economics department. NERC released their in-depth report on carbon pricing in Oregon last December.
