The Winter and Spring 2006 President’s and Deans’ lists have been released for all of Portland State University’s undergraduate academic units.
Full- and part-time students must meet certain standards to qualify for a Dean’s List.
Full-time students:
* Earn a 3.75 GPA (out of 4.0) or better for the Winter 2006 quarter for at least 12 graded credit hours
for the quarter;
* Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.
Part-time students:
The Pathways to Preparing Culturally Responsive Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Educators,(Pathways) modeled after Portland State University's successful Bilingual Teacher Pathway Program (BTP), will recruit and support instructional assistants who are bilingual and/or bicultural or who wish to work with culturally linguistically diverse children to become licensed early intervention/special education teachers.

Portland State University begins its 2006-07 academic year today projecting an end-of-term enrollment of 25,900 students. This continues an 11-year trend of enrollment growth for the University.
Current campus enrollment numbers are unofficial estimates based on year-to-year comparisons, applications, actual enrollments and continuing education students. The Oregon University System will release official fourth-week enrollment numbers for the 2006-07 academic year in November.

Two new national rankings recognize Portland State University as one of 25 “Saviors of Our Cities” as well as one of the “Best Colleges in the West.”
Portland State and 24 other universities were chosen as “Saviors of Our Cities” by the New England Board of Higher Education (NEBHE) for exemplary examples of community revitalization and cultural renewal, economic drivers of the local economy and advocates of community service and urban developers, both commercially as well as in housing.

More than 650 students will participate in Portland State University’s 2006 summer commencement ceremony; representing the more than 1,800 undergraduate and graduate students receiving degrees summer term. Portland State University President Daniel O. Bernstine will deliver the commencement address. More than 2,000 spectators are expected to attend the event.
