U.S News & World Report Ranks Portland State Among the Best in the Nation for Undergraduate Curriculum

For the fourth year in a row, Portland State University’s curriculum is among the best in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report.

The magazine’s “America’s Best Colleges 2006,” on newsstands this Monday, features Portland State under the section “Choosing a School: Programs to Look For” in five categories: Internships/Co-Ops, Senior Capstone, First-Year Experiences, Learning Communities and Service Learning.

PSU Summer Commencement

What:
Nearly 500 students will participate in Portland State University's summer 2005 commencement ceremony; representing the more than 1,500 undergraduate and graduate students receiving degrees summer term. Portland State University President Daniel O. Bernstine will deliver the commencement address. Approximately 2,000 spectators are expected to attend the event.

Portland State University Writing Program Celebrates First Book Published by Graduate

Kristin Kaye, a Portland State University graduate, is set to release the first book out of PSU's graduate writing program, Iron Maidens: The Celebration of the Most Awesome Female Muscle in the World.

PSU's Center for Excellence in Writing Offers Journalism, Theater and Nature Writing Workshops

Portland State University's Center for Excellence in Writing is now accepting applications for its Fall workshops: "Beginning Freelance Writing for Magazine and Newspapers," "Writing the Great American Ten-Minute Play" and "The Diving Earth: A Nature Writing Workshop." Local authors, playwrights and professionals in the field of publishing conduct the workshops, which are open to the public. Preregistration is required.

Oregon's Lab2Market Hosts Short Course on Technology Commercialization

What: Oregon’s Lab2Market Initiative is offering a short course, “Managerial Thinking for Technologists,” at PSU in September. The course will provide the fundamental terminology and concepts to participating undergraduates, graduates, faculty, staff and interested community members who want to learn more about the commercialization process. The course also targets innovators who plan to participate in a Technology Disclosure Competition that Lab2Market is hosting October 14, 2005.

Portland State University Offers Unique Sustainability Course for Working Professionals

Working professionals from across the region will learn how to make their organizations more sustainable through “Implementing Sustainability”— a professional certificate program from Portland State University. The program provides an understanding of how sustainability strategies are successfully applied in business, government and non-profit organizations.
