On June 11, 2013 at 3:40 AM, Nate Justin Wheeler, a 40 year old male from NW Portland was arrested at his residence by the Portland State University Campus Public Safety Office, the Transit Police Office and the Portland Police Bureau for the crime of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree. He was lodged in the Multnomah County detention facility. This arrest was for the Assault that occurred on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 3:40 PM in Neuberger Hall.
The Campus Public Safety Office arrested Joshua Frank Farrell, a 26-year-old Portland Resident, without a permanent address on multiple charges related to the thefts of laptop computers from students studying in the Millar Library, on the Portland State University Campus.
Portland State President Wim Wiewel has assembled a task force that will examine approaches to the question of public safety on campus.
In an April 25 memorandum to the campus community, Wiewel outlined his vision for the task force’s work, which will be undertaken in the coming months.

Portland State President Wim Wiewel has formed a new Task Force on Public Safety to advise him about public safety on campus.
Wiewel asked the panel of faculty, staff and students to gather and analyze crime data, host a series of campus conversations, and present its findings and recommendations to him by Nov. 1.
The task force, led by Vice President Jackie Balzer, will start its work by holding two open forums for public comment from noon-1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28 in Smith 327 and 4-5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5 in Smith 333. Food and beverages will be provided.
