Convocation and Campus Reception

You are invited to this year's Convocation. Join faculty and staff to celebrate the opening of the academic year. The program will include President Wim Wiewel's annual campus presentation and Provost Roy Koch's introductions of excellence award recipients. Campus reception follows the program.

President's Town Hall

WHAT: PSU students, staff and faculty are invited to President Wim Wiewel's year-end town hall. President Wiewel and Provost Sona Andrews will provide a recap of the academic year, while Vice President Monica Rimai will offer a brief budget update. These presentations will be followed by a question-and-answer session and a reception with food and beverages.

WHEN: 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 11

WHERE: Smith Memorial Student Union ballroom 

PSU provost announces Inspiration Challenge awards

Sona Andrews, Portland State's provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, has announced the Provost's Challenge Awards in the Inspiration Challenge category. The projects, totaling $200,000, offer a variety of solutions that use technology to improve student success and graduation rates. For Andrews' full announcement, go here.

Carlos Crespo named interim dean of the College of Urban and Public Affairs.

Provost Sona Andrews recently announced the appointment of Carlos Crespo as interim dean of the College of Urban and Public Affairs. Crespo, director and professor in the School of Community Health, will take on the position September 1, when Lawrence Wallack finishes his tenure as dean. A national search for a new dean is under way.
