Portland is often thought of as a National Leader when it comes to sustainability. The effort toward the equity portion of sustainability often pales in comparison to the environmental and economic portions. In order to have a movement that is beneficial and relevant to everyone we need to find new ways of doing things in order to avoid perpetuating the dominant oppressive cycle of our past and present. Portland has a unique opportunity to change what it means to be green and make a movement that is truly for all.. Please join us.

This is an all day event focusing on sustainability through multiple lenses; including Environmental Justice and equity. Marcelo Bonta from Center for Diversity and the Environment will be the key note and he will speak about the importance of diversity within the sustainability movement. Ben Duncan from OPAL will be speaking about Environmental Justice issues here in Portland. We will have breakout sessions focusing on things such as white privilege, and how the racism in Portland’s history is directly related to inequities today, the Earth Wisdom Alliance will also be presenting about social justice and environmental problems and solutions.
