In fact, sustainability is a campus-wide learning outcome for every major.
With our urban campus as a vibrant living laboratory for green practices, students don’t just read about sustainability, they make it happen—planting green roofs, testing solar arrays, tracking transportation systems, and tending organic gardens. Beyond the classroom, the Student Sustainability Center offers employment and volunteer opportunities to help students engage with sustainability ideas and efforts on campus.
Freshmen can choose a year-long Sustainability Living Learning Community option, where students live together in campus housing and take part in projects to create a more livable society. Seniors in Capstone courses work as teams with businesses, nonprofits, and civic organizations to address sustainability issues in Portland and beyond.
