My name is Virginia Ngilmau Pedro Rivard Luka. I’m an advisor with Student Activities and Leadership Programs (SALP), and a graduate student in the Leadership for Sustainability Education (LSE) program. I was born on the island of Palau and lived on Guam for 25 years before moving to Oregon about 12 years ago. Before moving to Portland, I attended Rogue Community College and graduated from Southern Oregon University with degrees in education and anthropology.

In October, 19 people representing Portland State—a mix of students, staff, and faculty—traveled to Minneapolis to attend the annual conference and expo of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, known as AASHE. While they were there, they learned a ton and also shared best practices from PSU’s own programs.
