MEDIA ADVISORY/CALENDAY LISTING: Former Oregon state economist, PSU professors present “Whither our Economy? A Panel Discussion on the Economic Crisis, 2011”

 

WHAT: Join Tom Potiowsky, former Oregon economist and current PSU chair of economics, economics professor Mary King and associate economics professor Hiro Ito for an insightful discussion about the local and social implications of the global economic crisis and prospects for recovery. 

Potiowsky will talk about how the national economy impacts the Oregon economy and what recovery looks like. King will discuss the crisis’ social impact as well as alternative policy strategies. Ito will address the implications of the uncertain global economy on the U.S.

BACKGROUND: Tom Potiowsky served as Oregon's state economist for a total of 11 years. He resigned in September 2011 to return to PSU, where he heads the Economics Department and directs the Northwest Institute of Applied Economic Research.
