A panel of students presented the following vision during the closing session of OHESC, leaving conference attendees with a bold vision for the future of our Oregon colleges and universities.

Did you know that unplugging appliances when not in use or using a power strip eliminates “vampire” energy—small amounts of electricity sucked up by anything with a plug when it’s not in use? PSU EcoReps reached out to over 50 students Wednesday night as part of a build-up to Campus Conservation Nationals—a nation-wide competition to reduce electricity and water use in campus residence halls.

After scrambling to find a ticket to last Tuesday’s lecture by Dr. Cornel West, acclaimed philosopher, academic, author, and activist, I was honored and grateful to have found what must have been the last available seat. As neither a philosopher, accredited academic, nor author, it’s a challenge for me to put into words the enthusiasm and passion Dr. West spoke with from behind the podium.
