Transportation
Portland State University is committed to providing the PSU community with effective, diverse, and sustainable transportation. Located in downtown Portland, the University is situated amidst the TriMet Bus Mall, Streetcar Line, and Metro Area Express (MAX) Light Rail routes. PSU's Transportation and Parking Services (TAPS) works closely with TriMet and the City of Portland to ensure that students, staff, faculty, and other PSU affiliates are provided ample access to reliable and affordable transportation. In addition, TAPS manages PSU's parking facilities and promotes the use of alternative transportation such as transit, carpooling, bicycling and car sharing.
In working to expand these types of alternative transportation, TAPS offers discounted transit passes to PSU students and employees, free Flexcar use to staff members, and extensive bike parking throughout the campus. TAPS also manages PSU's Bicycle Cooperative, where for a modest annual fee, members of the PSU community are given access to bike tools, stands, knowledgeable staff, and reduced rates on cycling supplies. PSU's Transportation and Parking Services was awarded a 2005 BEST Award for its achievements in providing transporation alternatives.
TAPS collaborates frequently with PSU's Sustainability Group in working to create a dynamic and sustainable system of transportation.
