The Finance & Administration Sustainability Office consists of a sustainability manager, two graduate students, an undergraduate student and an AmeriCorps member. We are currently building The PSU Campus Sustainability Dashboard, to provide timely data on everything from purchasing to energy use, piloting AASHE's campus Sustainability Tracking Assessment & Rating System, encouraging departments to achieve RecycleWorks certification, and supporting green building for major renovations on campus.
The PSU Recycles program consists of a resource management coordinator, one
graduate research assistant, one marketing and outreach coordinator, four crew leads and nine recycling techs.
History
Created in 2002 in response to overwhelming student support, the Sustainability Office ensures that socially, economically, and environmentally responsible practices are incorporated into campus operations and services.
The group had humble beginings with a staff of a lone Sustainability Coordinator; however, to meet the needs of PSU's ever-growing desire to incorporate sustainable practices into campus operations and academics, our office incorporated several Graduate Research Assitants, undergraduate employees, and an Americorps member. As one of the first groups of its kind within an institution of higher education, the Sustainability Group strives to provide leadership and support to students and staff, while serving as an active model of sustainable practices for colleges and universities across the country and beyond.
The Sustainability Office is currently located on the 8th floor of the Market Center Building. PSU Recycles! is located on the 2nd floor of the University Services Building.
