Employee Learning and Development

Enrollment Management and Student Affairs is a community of engaged life-long learners committed to excellence in professional development for student success. Our goal is to create an ethos of learning in the Division and to provide staff and students with many opportunities to develop their knowledge, skillls and abilities.

To reach these goals, we

  • Created and shared a learning agenda for the division that includes many annual professional development opportunities (e.g, winter professional development meeting, summer institute, and ongoing learn-at-lunches, and staff trainings). 
  • Foster the development of students, staff and faculty through our learning agenda
  • Promote and support the internal expertise of our colleagues.

Learning in the Division

All learning opportunities are aligned to the Professional Competency Areas for Student Affairs Practitioners. This set of Professional Competency Areas is intended to define the broad professional knowledge, skills, and, in some cases, attitudes expected of student affairs professionals regardless of their area of specialization or positional role within the field.The list of learning opportunities include the following.

Learn at Lunch Series

The learn-at-lunch series is a collaborative enterprise between the Student Affairs Assessment Council and the Employee Learning Group. The learn-at-lunch program provides an opportunity for peer-to-peer sharing and education. We can learn so much from the expertise of our colleagues. It is scheduled during the lunch hour, so that participants can bring their lunches and share and learn while they eat. The training is less formal and less structured than other educational opportunities but touches on topics that are of interest to all participants. Dates and times: 3rd Friday of the month from 12-1.
