Student Leaders for Service

Student Leaders for Service is Portland State's hub for civic engagement. If you're interesting in volunteering, come visit us in SMSU M113C!

Register for Earth Day of Service!

Organized by Student Leaders for Service, this is a day to give back to the earth by volunteering! Volunteers will work on projects on and around the Portland State campus, including activities such as gardening, invasive species removal, and community beautification. The day will run from 9:00am-1:00pm on April 19, which will be followed by lunch (provided by us!) and a lecture from a special guest speaker. Register here: http://bit.ly/1qqUeoj

Now Accepting Applications for Student Leaders for Service Members and Interfaith Service Leadership Team

Both programs have a focus on service, but the focus of the meetings are different.

1. Student Leaders for Service is a dynamic experience that provides the opportunity to work at a community organization with a focus area or mission relevant to your academic, career, and personal goals. You will also have support and training through weekly meetings and have the opportunity to get involved in many opportunities such as Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service and Alternative Spring Break, to involve the PSU community in volunteer opportunities and advocacy to further support the community.

Student Leaders for Service is a safe space where you can develop leadership skills with peers that will be beneficial to your academic, personal and professional life. If you are interested in making meaningful connections with the community and your peers, applying your knowledge towards real world problems and growing as a person and leader, Student Leaders for Service could be a great fit for you! You can find the application here, or contact us for any questions at volunteer@pdx.edu

2. On the Interfaith Service Leadership Team, students with a common value of service gather to discuss and educate others about interfaith topics in higher education, including religious differences, commonalities, practices, and changes. Students meet for a weekly meeting to discuss new topics and plan events for the wider campus. The application can be found here: https://orgsync.com/67492/forms/102392

Student Leaders for Service is changing its name!

Student Leaders for Service is changing our office name, as well as revealing our strategic plan for the next five years. Celebrate this big step forward with us on April 30th, 12pm - 2pm in SMSU 236 -- it's free and open to the public!
