MSW Courses of Study

We offer a number of Options for completing the MSW Program.

During the Foundation Year, all students will also attend a 90 minute Field Seminar each term (Fall, Winter and Spring) in addition to the classes and field placement hours listed below.

Portland Campus Option

Two-Year Course Map: Three classes each term (Fall, Winter and Spring) plus a 16-hour a week field placement. With this course of study, we encourage you to limit outside employment to part-time.

Three-Year Course Map: Two classes each term (Fall, Winter and Spring) in the first year of the program, followed by two years of two classes each term and a field placement 16 hours a week.

Four-Year Course Map: Two classes per term (Fall, Winter and Spring) in the first year of the program and two or three classes per term in the fourth year. Students take one class per term during the second and third years of the program and a field placement 16 hours a week.

Advanced Standing: Applicants to this course of study must have received a Bachelor's in Social Work degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Students complete 46 credit hours of our advanced curriculum over four terms (Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring).

Distance Option

Each of our four Distance sites, Ashland, Bend, Eugene and Salem, offer a three-year course of study. Students take two classes each term (Fall, Winter and Spring) in the first year of the program, followed by two years of two classes each term and a field placement 16 hours a week. Students take Advanced Concentration courses in Clinical Social Work Practice.

Online Option

Students take 6-9 credits per term (Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer) duirng a three-year course of study. Students complete a 16-hour a week field placement during the second and third years of the program. Students take Advanced Concentration courses in Practice and Leadership with Communities and Organizations.
