This clinic provides assessment and intervention services for school-aged children with language disorders. During the school years, language demands increase significantly as children communicate in more complex social and academic settings. In addition, children use their language skills to learn to read and write and to produce and understand written text. For children with language impairment, acquiring these skills may present substantial challenges. Under supervision, graduate students work with children individually for 50 minute sessions, twice weekly.
Specific areas addressed may include:
- Higher order oral language
- Reading comprehension
- Written language skills
- Spelling and decoding (sounding out words)
- Reading fluency
