Dr. Shelly Chabon was formally the
Executive Director CEO of Children's TLC and a Senior Speech-language Pathologist
at Children's Mercy
Hospitals and
Clinics. She was the founder and Chair
of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) at Rockhurst University. She also served as Acting Chair of the CSD
Department at Howard University and was Clinic Director and Clinical
Coordinator at the University
of Pittsburgh. She has written a number of articles and
chapters, has co-authored three books, a language intervention program for
pre-schoolers and made numerous presentations on issues related to clinical
practice, ethics, language disorders and multicultural education. She is a co-author of Ethics Education published in 2007.
Dr. Chabon is a Fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing
Association (ASHA). She was a member of
the ASHA Council for Clinical Certification and was the Chair of the ASHA Board
of Ethics. She has received several
honors for her leadership and service including an award from the Missouri
Assistive Technology Advisory Council to individuals dedicated to assuring
equal access for all Missourians, a Certificate of Recognition from the ASHA
for Special Contributions in Higher Education and an Apple Award for
appreciation to an outstanding teacher.
