Aphasia Therapy Groups
These on-campus groups provide an opportunity to individuals exloring aphasia to practice the communication skills they have acquired in individual treatment sessions in a supportive environment with others who have aphasia. There are currently two groups that meet twice a week, one is focused primarily on language skills and the other on a combination of language and speech skills. Students facilitate conversations through the use of SCA (Supported Conversations with Persons with Aphasia) about many topics including current events, sports and living with aphasia.
You can read more about SCA here. Our students have been trained and are overseen by staff who are certified trainers or have been trained in SCA.
