His areas of expertise include speech sound development and disorders, the connections between childhood language and literacy, and stuttering throughout the lifespan. Andy has participated in several research studies involving children with language disorders and people who stutter. Most recently, he has been the lead speech-language pathologist on a multi-year, NIH-funded project to develop a computer-assisted method to track data with clients who stutter. Prior to joining the PSU faculty full-time, Andy was an adjunct instructor for several years, and he taught several academic courses on speech and language development and disorders at both the graduate and undergraduate level. He currently leads the Speech Sound Disorders clinic and the Stuttering Clinic at PSU.
In his previous career, Andy was a professional bread baker, and he maintains this craft as an avid avocation.
