James Bickford, EdD, is an associate professor of education at Portland State University. Dr. Bickford has over 35 years of teaching and administration to the teacher training program in special education. With a specialty in visual impairment and blindness, he emphasizes a functional curriculum approach to the education of children with special needs.

Cheryl Grindol, MS, is an assistant professor in special education at Portland State University. Her specialty areas include: Visual impairments/blindness, social skills, and special education administration.
