The Elementary Special Education program at Portland State University is a program of graduate study designed to prepare professionals to teach students age 3 through grade 8 with a range of disabilities from mild to severe. This program is offered for full-time and part-time students. |

Special Education Focus Areas
Positive Behavior Support (PBS)
A Department of Special Education Focus Area with an emphasis on school-wide systems of support that include proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create positive school environments. Students will learn skills and be challenged to become future leaders in the development and implementation of PBS in their classrooms, schools, and districts to effectively serve all students.
Bilingual Special Education
Prepares bilingual/bicultural school district employees for special education licensure.
