The Early Intervention Special Educator (EI/SE)
program at Portland State University is a program of graduate study
designed to prepare professionals to provide services to infants,
toddlers, and young children with special needs, and their families
Deadline to complete all application material is February 15
This program is intended for educational assistants who are bilingual/bicultural, or
monolingual/monocultural who wish to gain competencies in working with
young children with special needs and their families who represent
diverse backgrounds. Coursework infuses information about working with young children and their families who are from diverse backgrounds throughout the curriculum.
This program is intented for educational assistants, Head Start Staff, and early childhood education personnel. Upon completetion, you will be qualified to provide services to infants toddlers, and pre-kindergarten children, thier families, and teachers and apply for Oregon licensure. This program is targeted to individuals working in rural areas in the Pacific Northwest.
The Parent-Infant Interaction Project is an early childhood developement project intended to support parents with intellectual disabilities and their children.

Dr. Dave Allen and collegue, Dr. Ruth Falco, in collaboration with the Helen Gordon Child Development Center, were awarded the Sampsell
Faculty Fellowship in Community Engagement for their project Creating a Model Service for Children with
Disabilities at the Helen Gordon Child Development Center.
