at Portland State University in collaboration with PSU's Autism
Training and Research Center have designed a certificate program for
"Educating the Child with Autism. The program can be taken at either
the undergraduate or graduate level.
Take coures in any sequence, no prerequisites, no formal admission proceedures.
Educating the Child with Autism: Certificate of Completion
is a 19-credit program designed to teach students to use a
comprehensive set of evidence-based instructional strategies and a
curriculum that is demonstrated to improve the learning outcomes of
children with a range of disorders on the Autistic Spectrum. Open Enrollment (no application required)
Understanding Asperger's Syndrome and High Functioning Autism
is a 12-credit online program providing a framework for understanding
Asperger's syndrome, high functioning autism, and other diagnoses
including pervasive developmental disorder not otherwised specified
(PDD-NOS) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Topics
include diagnostic issues, educational implications, and programming
recommendations. Open Enrollment (no application required)
Some credits can be used to complete the elective requirement in the Master's degree.
Infant Toddler Mental Health: A Relationship-based Approach
is designed for professionals who are working with families who have
children from the prenatal period to 36-months of age. This program is
appropriate for professionals who are mental health, special education,
child welfare social service providers; home visits; teachers;
child-care providers; and health care professionals. It is also
appropriate for supervisors of these direct-service providers. Contact
