Program Features:

The camp program provides camping and recreational experiences for children, youth, and adults with disabilities. It also provides capstone and pacticum credit, as well as volunteer experiences for students. The program operates during the summer from mid-June to mid-August and includes

  • fishing
  • group living
  • hiking
  • nature study
  • overnight campouts
  • sports
  • games
  • an adventure course
  • campfires and camp songs
  • skits
  • dances
  • arts and crafts
  • swimming
  • horseback riding
  • and a lot more!
Separate back-packing, canoeing, river rafting, and adventure camp programs are operated during some weeks. Forty paid staff provide the program and mentor the student counselors. All staff are highly qualified. Various positions require a master's degree in special education, recreation, and other related fields.

Enroll through PSU for six hours of undergraduate or graduate course credit

Choose from

  • UNST 421 CAP: Learning about persons with disabilities - 6 credit hours (Senior Capstone - Required at PSU for BA degree)
  • SPED 199 Outdoor ED/REC for the Disabled - 6 credit hours (undergraduate-freshmen)
  • SPED 460 Outdoor ED/REC for the Disabled - 6 credit hours (undergraduate)
  • SPED 560 Outdoor ED/REC for the Disabled - 6 credit hours (graduate)

Note: Credit can be transferable to other colleges and universities.

Participate in a camp program that provides:

  • Two-week residential practicum experience in the outdoors (with a weekend break between)
  • Free room and board
  • Excellent training for present or anticipated work with youth and adults with disabilities (ie. teaching, recreation, other human service professions)
  • Pre-camp orientation and training sessions for all counselors
