University of Wisconsin-Madison Central Asian History/Assistant Professor
UW-Madison, the Department of History, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position beginning August 2011 at the rank of Assistant Professor in Central Asian History since 1800.
Applicants should hold a doctorate or anticipate its completion by the time of the appointment. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of creativity and excellence in research dealing with the lands, peoples, states, and societies of the region, with a focus on the territories of the former Russian Empire and Soviet Union, excluding Azerbaijan. Candidates should have demonstrated competence in the relevant languages of their areas of specialization. The successful applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Central Asian history and to work closely with the UW-Madison's Title VI National Resource Center in Russia, East Europe, and Central Asia.
