Associate professor of Arabic at Washington University

The Department of Asian and Near Eastern Languages and Literatures at
Washington University in St. Louis seeks to appoint an Associate professor
of Arabic with tenure to begin in the fall of 2011. Assistant Professors at
the advanced level are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be
a textual scholar of Arabic primary sources who also has demonstrable
expertise in Arabic language instruction, and she/he will be expected to
assume primary responsibility for the department’s thriving Arabic language
program. The position is in the Humanities but period and field of
specialization are open. Ph.D. and a distinguished record of scholarly
publication required. Duties include teaching regular courses, advising
students, research and writing for publication, and university service. The
