Assistant Professor, Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies New York University
The Department of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies at New
York University is seeking candidates for an open rank position
in the field of Islamic law and society to begin September 1,
2011, pending budgetary and administrative approval. The
department has strong interdisciplinary interests, and welcomes
candidates in fields including religious studies, history,
anthropology, politics, legal studies and other disciplines and in
any historical period. Candidates should have a solid grounding
in the classical Islamic legal tradition, and will be expected
to teach a range of courses at both the introductory and
advanced levels and to supervise doctoral dissertation research.
PhD completed by July 30, 2011 required.
