The University of Louisville invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Humanities in Islamic Studies. Candidates must be qualified to teach Islamic religion, thought, and culture within an interdisciplinary humanities program. Area of specialization (chronological, geographical, methodological, and topical) within Islamic Studies is open. Areas of competence may include early or modern Islamic thought and movements, theories of religion, or gender and religion. The course load is 2 - 2 per year, with courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The candidate will be asked to contribute to interdisciplinary programs in Middle East and Islamic Studies or Asian Studies or Pan-African Studies. Qualified candidates should have a PhD by June, 2011, teaching experience, and a record of research and publications. The position begins Fall, 2011.
