The University of Missouri-Columbia seeks a tenure track assistant professor with expertise in the academic study of Islam. Area of specialization is open. Ability to teach courses in theory and method in the academic study of religion and comparative courses is strongly preferred. Knowledge of appropriate research languages is required. Ph.D. must be completed by August, 2010. The normal teaching load is two courses per semester. The Department of Religious Studies currently has 9 full time faculty positions and offers M.A. and B.A. degrees. The University of Missouri, Columbia is the only public intensive research university within the state and is located in a small, dynamic city, half way between St. Louis and Kansas City.
