Angelo State University - Two tenure track assistant professors

The Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice seeks applications for two new tenure-track positions for new degree programs in Cultural Competence and Security Studies. The Department seeks expertise in international/national security and strategic studies with a regional focus in (1) the Middle East and/or South and Central Asia and (2) Africa or Latin America. For both positions, preference will be given to applicants with the ability to teach in one or more of the following areas: international security, strategic studies, intelligence studies, terrorism, conflict resolution, and/or military science and technology.

Duties

Position #1:International Security. The successful candidate will develop and teach on-line courses directed initially to a primarily military audience in security studies in the Middle East and/or Central/South Asia. The successful applicant will also develop and deliver on-line courses in international relations, national security policy, terrorism, insurgency, political extremism, and conflict resolution. Position #2: Strategic Studies. The successful candidate will develop and teach on-line courses directed initially to a primarily military audience in intelligence and counterintelligence, geostrategy, military studies, radical religion and cultural competence. The successful applicant will also develop and deliver additional on-line courses on security issues and policy in Africa and/or Latin America. Starting June 1,2011(if possible), both positions will join existing faculty in developing curriculum. Beginning the new academic year in August, 2011, each new faculty will assume normal faculty responsibilities in teaching, scholarly activity and service.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated expertise in the above areas and the ability to develop and deliver university-level courses in an on-line format (particularly Blackboard) is preferred. Experience in program development and/or project management would also be helpful. Ability to work with colleagues in a team environment is a must.

Qualifications

PhD in International relations, International Security Studies, Strategic Studies, Military History, Intelligence Studies or related fields. ABD considered at rank of lecturer.
