Portland, OR, October 2012—Ooligan Press is proud to announce the release of Close Is Fine, a collection of short stories by Eliot Treichel; a book Publisher’s Weekly called “a clear-eyed and perceptive debut.” Like an album of Polaroid snapshots, Close Is Fine is a finely wrought collection of short stories that gives us a brief glimpse into the quirky and complex lives of the inhabitants of a rural Wisconsin town. At times mournful and haunting, this collection celebrates the nobility of simple life—of striving and failing, without ever losing hope.
To celebrate the book’s release, readers in Portland are invited to attend a no-host launch party at the beautiful Doug Fir Lounge, in the Fireplace Room, on Monday, Oct. 29 from 5–8 p.m. The party will feature a reading by the author, a question-and-answer session, book signing and door prizes. Guests are welcome to bring friends and family (no minors, please). This event is free to attend.
Ooligan Press is also offering a free e-book in celebration of the release of Close Is Fine: The poignant story “Novitiate Falls,” also by Eliot Treichel, is available for download on the Ooligan Press website, www.ooliganpress.pdx.edu.
