Flu Vaccination Information
SHAC strongly encourages those who fit the CDC criteria for "Persons for Whom Annual Vaccination is Recommended" to get their flu shot. Please note, SHAC only carries a limited number of vaccinations each academic year. To find an additional location that has flu vaccinations please visit the HealthMap Vaccine Finder.
Cost for Flu Vaccination
There are two vaccinations currently available through SHAC:
- A trivalent influenza vaccine that protects against three types of influenza virus is available at SHAC and at the PSU Flu Vaccination Clinic (see below in red). Cost for the trivalent vaccine is $13.32 (see below for more information). PSU students will be given this vaccine unless the student is pregnant or breast-feeding as this version of the vaccine contains a preservative.
- A trivalent influenza vaccine that protects against three types of influenza virus, but is preservative free is available at SHAC for those students who are pregnant or breastfeeding. The cost for this vaccine is $17 (see below for more information).
Students with the PSU Aetna Student Health Insurance Plan will be covered at 100%. Students without the PSU Aetna Student Health Insurance will have the charge added to their student account. They may then request a receipt to submit to their personal insurance for possible reimbursement. Receipts for students who are covered privately or through OHP will be given at the PSU Flu Vaccination Clinic.
SHAC's Flu Vaccination Clinic for all PSU students and non-benefitted PSU employees is Tuesday, October 21, from 10AM-1PM in SMSU 296/298. Prices at the clinic are the same as at SHAC (listed above). Supplies are limited. First-come, first-serve, no appointment necessary. PSU ID is required.
