Faculty & Staff Resources: Responding to Students in Distress
There are several departments at PSU that are available to support you in navigating student disclosures.
If a student begins to share an experience of sexual harassment, assault, or any other crises, please advise the reporting student that you cannot offer them confidentiality. If they wish to speak to a confidential support person, please contact the Dean of Student Life for a referral, or direct them to these resources.
The C.A.R.E. Team, hosted by the Dean of Student Life, is available to consult with you regarding any issues of students in distress, including sexual misconduct. For more information about the C.A.R.E. Team, visit the C.A.R.E. Team website or call 503-725-4422 to contact the C.A.R.E. Team Coordinator.
For complete information regarding PSU’s policies related to sexual misconduct, or your rights and responsibilities as a faculty or staff member, please contact PSU’s Office of Equity & Compliance.
The Office of Equity & Compliance is responsible for monitoring Portland State University’s Title IX compliance.
