Portland Bridges to Baccalaureate

The Portland Bridges to Baccalaureate Program (PBTB) is a partnership between Portland State University (PSU) and Portland Community College (PCC), funded by the National Institutes of Health. Its purpose is to increase access, particularly for students from underrepresented communities, to bachelor degree preparation for academic and scientific careers in biological, physical, behavioral, and health sciences.

It is open to PCC students including, but not limited to, students from underrepresented groups including African Americans, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, natives of the U.S. Pacific Islands, rural Appalachians, and students from communities adversely impacted by health disparities.

Students participating in the PBTB program receive:

  • PSU Guest Speakers
  • College Transferrable Science-Seminar Course Credit
  • Peer Student Mentoring
  • Financial Aid Guidance
  • Family Support Activities
  • Eligibility for Paid Summer Internship:
    • Paid summer laboratory or research internships at PSU
    • Expert mentorship from PSU researchers working in their field
    • Training on biomedical and behavioral research ethics
