Welcome to the School of Business Administration

Oregon has a long history of attracting strong individuals with a different way of doing things. From the pioneers of the Oregon Trail to the pioneers of Oregon's Silicon Forest, people are drawn to the quality of life, scenic beauty and opportunity for innovation and creativity that abounds in Oregon. No wonder Money Magazine continuously names Portland as a "Best Place to Live."

The School of Business at Portland State University is a key player in the region’s economy. Our commitment to excellence as an urban-serving business school is evidenced by our faculty members, students and program offerings. Our students are distinguished by their professional experience, strong work ethic and creativity.

faculty members are dedicated to providing rich, community-integrated learning for our students and producing world-class, impactful research. And, our programs – in service to our community – are practical and innovative.

Specifically of note,

  • Each year the School of Business graduates approximately 800 undergraduate business majors and 200 masters students, the majority of whom stay in the region to serve as the next generation of business leaders.
  • We offer numerous experiential and community-engaged learning opportunities for our students, ranging from FIR (student run advertising agency), to undergraduate and graduate capstone consulting projects, to international study abroad opportunities around the world.
  • Our faculty members are leading scholars in their fields, including Talya, Bauer, Berrin Erdogan and Lauren Simon in the area of employee on-boarding and relations; Kathy Rupley, Brian Bolton and Piman Limpaphayom in the area of corporate governance; and Ted Khoury, Desiree Pacheco, Melissa Appleyard and Charla Mathick in the area of innovation and entrepreneurship processes.

And, we are very excited about our efforts to start construction on our new building in spring 2015. Combining renovation of our existing building with construction of an additional 35,000 square feet, this new home will open in summer 2017, greatly enhancing our ability to serve our students and community.

We are, indeed, a School on the move.
