Mr. Rifer initiated and managed the Western Electronic Product Stewardship Initiative (WEPSI)—an EPA-funded multi-stakeholder process. He participated in the national negotiation to establish a recycling system for electronics—the National Electronic Product Stewardship Initiative (NEPSI). Mr. Rifer shares his expertise in sustainability with students in the Master of International Management program teaching the Product Design and Stewardship course.
Mr. Rifer also initiated and managed the stakeholder process to develop EPEAT (Electronics Product Environmental Assessment Tool), which is a procurement tool for environmentally preferable electronics. He is currently the EPEAT Manager of Operations and Stakeholder Relations (see http://www.epeat.net) and a member of the Board for the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC).
As Principal of Rifer Environmental, Mr. Rifer provides consulting services in waste management and product stewardship.
