Offered in cooperation with the Euromed-Marseille Graduate School of Business Marseille-Provence, the Business in Europe program offers students the opportunity to earn 8-12 credits of course work in English in an intensive three-week program.
Marseille is the oldest city in France. Located on the south coast of France, in the middle of the French Gold Coast (i.e., the French Riviera), it was built at the mouth of the Rhone River on the Mediterranean Sea. Marseille has been the crossroads for international trade for over 26 centuries, making it a very interesting and exciting place to spend a part of your summer and the ideal place to experience international business at its European roots.
In addition to the classroom work, the program includes several company visits, regional activities incorporating historical and cultural aspects of Marseille and southern France. Friday afternoons and weekends are free for independent travel.
June 19 - July 6, 2007
The cost of the Summer Program is $1,300 (undergraduate) and $1,500 (graduate), payable to Portland State University. This amount includes:
Optional: For those who also wish to enroll in MKTG 507 - International Field Research, for the additional 4 credits, register for this course separately through PSU Summer Session and pay the appropriate summer school tuition. Instructor signature required.
The following are not included in the program cost:
Housing is available in furnished apartments with small kitchens. Cost is approximately 55 EUR for a studio (1-2 persons), 65 EUR for a small apartment (2 persons) and 75 EUR for a larger apartment (2-3 persons). Rates are per-day and include taxes. Most students have found sharing a small apartment to be quite adequate.
Meals are the student's responsibility. Budget at least $400 for meals. A well-stocked Fred Meyer style grocery store is located two blocks from the apartment building if you want to prepare your own breakfasts and dinners. Inexpensive lunches are available on campus.
Students are selected on the basis of academic achievement and seriousness of purpose, as well as motivation, maturity, good health and emotional stability.
