Joanne Klebba received a Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of Minnesota. Her teaching and research interests focus on the practical and pedagogical aspects of marketing strategy and decision-making. Currently she is studying the role of creativity and other influences on the marketing decision-making process. Joanne's courses incorporate an analytical and structured approach to marketing decision-making that encourages students to search out and understand the bases for a company's unique competitive advantage. Joanne was instrumental in developing the Advertising Management major at Portland State University and in pioneering executive training for member agencies of the American Association of Advertising Agencies. She has taught executive seminars in promotion and marketing management in the United States and Russia.

She has served as Treasurer of the American Academy of Advertising and is active in other professional associations. Joanne has held positions in public relations at Chrysler Corporation and marketing research at Johns-Manville Corporation. She currently serves as Chair of the Faculty Council of the School of Business Administration at Portland State University. She enjoys sailing and gardening.
