Glenn Newman was Asia Regional Counsel and subsequently Associate General Counsel for Cadence Design Systems, Inc. from 1997 to 2003. Mr. Newman operated from Cadence�s Japan office until relocating to the United States in 2001. Based in San Jose, California, Cadence is the world�s largest supplier of Electronic Design Automation software and design services to semiconductor and electronic systems companies.

Between 1990 and 1997, Mr. Newman was an attorney in the Chicago and Tokyo offices of Baker & McKenzie, residing approximately four years in each location. In Chicago, Mr. Newman advised Japanese companies operating in the United States on corporate, commercial and regulatory issues. Mr. Newman also had a commercial litigation practice and regularly appeared in state and federal courts in Illinois. In Tokyo, Mr. Newman advised foreign companies operating in Japan on corporate, commercial, licensing, regulatory and dispute resolution matters and continued to advise Japanese companies on U.S. legal issues.

Mr. Newman teaches a course on International Law and Ethics as an adjunct professor at Portland State University�s School of Business Administration (Master of International Management and MBA Programs). Mr. Newman also co-teaches with a Japanese attorney a course on Doing Business in Japan at the University of Illinois College of Law. Mr. Newman was an adjunct professor of law at Temple University Japan in Tokyo between 1997 and 2001, teaching US law students and Japanese legal professionals graduate-level courses on International Intellectual Property, Regulation of Business in Japan, Business Associations and East-West Negotiation.

Mr. Newman has spoken (in Japanese and English) and written on various legal issues. Mr. Newman�s publications include an article about the retention, management and termination of distributors in Japan (�Breaking Up is Hard to Do: How to Divorce Your Japanese Distributor and Live to Tell About It�; J@pan, Inc. magazine (www.japaninc.com), Jan. 2004) and a two part case study concerning the Japanese approach to the regulation of business (�A Yokohama Neighborhood�s Battle to Cut Through Red Tape�; J@pan, Inc., Sep. & Oct. 2002).

Mr. Newman is a 1990 summa cum laude graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law. Mr. Newman received his B.A. from the University of Illinois in 1986. Mr. Newman attended Konan University in Kobe, Japan in 1986-87.

Mr. Newman is licensed to practice law in California, Illinois and Oregon.
