Peter Carlos Okantey is from Ghana, West Africa. He has been residing in Portland, Oregon for six years. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Management and Organizational Leadership both from Warner Pacific College. Peter received the 2009 Young Alumni of the Year Award from Warner Pacific College.  Peter also holds a teaching certificate from the Presbyterian College of Education in Ghana, West Africa and a Public Administration Diploma from the University of Ghana in Ghana, West Africa.  Peter is currently pursuing his Doctoral Degree in Strategic Leadership at Regent University’s School of Global Leadership and Entrepreneurship in Virginia and plans to graduate in 2012.  

In Ghana, Peter worked as a teacher and compiled data from households for a population census. In addition, he worked as a Training Assistant with World Education, a non-profit organization assisting in the implementation of an HIV/AIDS curriculum in teacher training colleges throughout Ghana, which included hosting focus groups and training teachers.

In Portland, Peter worked for Multnomah County referring immigrant families to available community resources.  He also worked as a site manager for Portland Impact providing program development, grant compliance, community outreach, service coordination, resource development, and planning.

Peter founded NAPE Foundation; a non-profit organization, in 2006, to bring higher educational opportunities to individuals in Ghana.  NAPE Foundation has provided current high school and university students in Ghana with scholarships, has partnered with Portland State University to bring on-line degrees to individuals in Ghana and seeks to develop a four-year Christian liberal arts university in Ghana.  He believes that accessible higher education is the key to eradicating the many problems that plague Africa. Peter devotes his time working for NAPE Foundation.  He also created The Okantey Group, Inc.; a leadership and management consultancy that includes speaking and consulting for businesses in the areas of leadership, management, coaching, and mentoring.
