The Certificate of Advanced Proficiency in Russian


In order to certify the superior achievements of Flagship students, Portland State will award a Certificate of Advanced Proficiency in Russian to Flagship students who complete the following requirements. The Certificate may be attached to an undergraduate degree in any major, or it may be taken independently by post-baccalaureate students. Students who enter the Advanced Track with Advanced Russian skills may waive 12 credits of Advanced Russian.

Advanced Language Classes  20 credits

RUS 325 Phonetics (4)

RUS 411, 412, 413 Advanced Russian (4, 4, 4)

RUS 414 Advanced Russian Grammar (4)

Content Classes in Russian  12 credits

Flagship Designated Classes  18 credits

RUS 444, 445, 446 “Globalization” (6)

RUS 454 “American Studies” (2)

RUS 455 “European Studies” (2)

RUS 456 “Environmental Sustainability (2)

RUS 457, 458, 459 “Russian in the Major” (6)

Senior Capstone “Effecting Change”  6 credits

Total  56 credits

 

Students who complete all requirements for a Certificate of Advanced Proficiency in Russian will also meet requirements for a B.A. in Russian.
