Olympic Send-Off

PSU CAMPUS REC AND COMMUNITY PARALYMPIC

ATHLETES & COACHES HEAD TO LONDON

 

PORTLAND, OR July 19, 2012 -- Portland State Campus Rec is hosting an Olympic send off for its defending gold-medal USA Women’s Goalball athlete, Jen Armbruster, teammate, Asya Miller, USA Men's Paralympic Table Tennis Head Coach and former USA Men's Olympic athlete Sean O'Neill, USA Wheelchair Rugby defending gold medalists Seth McBride and Will Groulx, and Rugby coach Ed Suhr on August 14, 2012 in the Academic and Student Rec Center (ASRC) at Portland State University, 1800 SW Sixth Ave, from 4:00 – 5:00 pm. All members of the community are welcome to come show support, mingle, enjoy Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, and hear from these Paralympics-bound athletes.

 

Jen Armbruster is the Inclusive Rec and Community Service Coordinator for Campus Rec at Portland State University. She is a five-time Paralympian and was elected to carry the American flag during the opening ceremonies at the Beijing games. As a member of the U.S. Women’s Goalball Team, her career accomplishments include a gold medal from the Beijing games in 2008, a silver medal from Athens in 2004, and a bronze medal from Atlanta in 1996 and she and her teammates, including Asya Miller, will be defending gold in the 2012 London games.

 

Additionally, the USA Women's Goalball Team will be practicing at the Rec Center on August 11 from 1:30 - 4:30 pm on the ASRC MAC Court and members of the community are welcome to come watch.
