Resident Housing Association {RHA}

Come Meet Us & Get Active! Our First Meeting of 09-10 will be

Thursday, September 24th at 7pm in the Montgomery Court Lounge

What is RHA?

RHA is your Residents' Housing Association. We are the governing body representing resident students of Portland State University. RHA is the voice of the residents within the residence halls. Programming put on by RHA includes various fun and educational activities as well as the wonderful community garden. These programs, which are initiated, sponsored, and funded by RHA, are well received and enjoyed by the residents of each hall community. To keep all of these great things going it is important to have strong leaders.

Why be in RHA?

There are many benefits to becoming a member of the Residents' Housing Association's executive board, including attending retreats and leadership training workshops, conferences at other universities, opportunities to plan and implement activities for all of the resident students of PSU, and getting to know residents and members of other student organizations and campus departments.

RHA Mission

The RHA strives to help develop community on campus by embracing the diversity of residents, encouraging development of leadership ideals, promoting successful academic lifestyles, and inspiring students to be an active part of the on-campus community while working constructively with Resident Assistants and the Resident Life Administration. RHA serves as a governing voice, representing the needs and wants of the residents to the campus populations.

What can RHA do for your community?

RHA is a wonderful opportunity to make an impact on your community. As a resident, you are a participating member of the student government of University Housing, a member with privileges and responsibilities. The extent to which the members of the hall/floor can plan and carry out activities and succeed as an organization depends upon the cooperation of these members. There is a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, community gardener, and community representatives who together comprise the Residents' Housing Association.

RHA meetings are held weekly on THURSDAYS at 7pm in Montgomery Court Lounge. All residents are urged to attend and participate. RHA not only provides leadership opportunities for students, but it also benefits the entire campus by providing programming and shaping housing policies. In addition, by serving as a RHA member, residents may also have the opportunity to serve on University Auxillary committees that value resident input. To get involved, please contact your RA, HD, AC or the RHA Office.

Concerns about residence hall usage, policies, and improvements are channeled to University Housing through the Residents’ Housing Association. To voice such concerns, questions, or suggestions, RHA encourages you to speak with us and get active!
