Port of Portland Partnership
A major Metro region employer and facilitator of economic development, the Port of Portland manages aviation and marine trade for Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington counties and is a close partner of Portland State University’s. Working together the Port of Portland and PSU are reducing the Port’s environmental footprint, and taking strides to make Portland International Airport a leader in aviation sustainability.
Developing Partnership Goals
The office of Strategic Partnerships in assicoation with the Port of Portalnd is developing goals that will align higher education and workforce and economic development. Some of those goals include:
- Expanding sustainability projects such as the Port of Portland Technical Assistance Project to airports and universities across the country, and developing an Airport Way EcoDistrict.
- Increasing student participation in Port's development and sustainability efforts.
Port of Portland Technical Assistance Project
The Port of Portland Technical Assistance Project (PTAP) provides hands-on support and operational assistance for all Port of Portland facilities, with a focus on the Portland International Airport (PDX). PTAP staff work to reduce landfill-bound waste by implementing recycling, composting and other waste prevention programs. Project staff partner with Port employees, airlines, airport tenants, janitorial staff, waste haulers, and product suppliers to achieve the Port’s waste minimization Targets and Objectives.
