Portland, OR – The Office of University Communications will have students, staff, faculty, alumni, and friends “leapin” for joy this Leap Day when they host the third Portland State "Tweetup" from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 29 in the Smith Union Viking Game Room, 1825 SW Broadway. The Tweetup, sponsored by PSU Viking Game Room, University Market Store, Ben & Jerry’s and New Avenues for Youth, Google Places, and Big Town Hero is a social media event for PSU social media fans to meet each other in real life and connect.
The Tweetup features free admission, ice cream treats and snacks, a photobooth, and raffle prizes. The Viking Game Room’s bowling alleys, pool tables, and video game stations are free during the event. Attendees will receive a raffle ticket for the chance to win grand prizes, including a Chromebook computer, an ice cream party, and PSU gear. Other prizes include gift certificates and swag from campus departments, PSU Athletics, Google, and TwinStar Credit Union. The first 50 attendees at the event will also get an extra entry into the raffle.
University Communications, which manages PSU's official social media presence, hosts PSU Tweetups to build community, pride, and tradition on a campus attended by nearly 30,000 students. “We strive to take conversations online to the next level by consistently working with departments and local businesses to provide our students, staff, alumni, and fans the opportunity to meet each other in real life,” says Tracy Weber, marketing assistant.
