Who May Register
Faculty and staff registering for the first time are required to complete a Non-Degree Entry form or to apply for admission (see Admissions for information and forms) so that a student record can be created. Staff and faculty are not required to submit the application fees associated with these applications.
Registering for Credit
Staff and faculty use the same online registration system that regular students use--myPSU--to register for classes. Fees are assessed and grades are recorded as part of the permanent academic record.
Staff Fee Privileges
Employees appointed at half-time or more (not including temporary classified employees, graduate assistants, or other student employees) may register for classes at special rates. An eligible employee, upon approval by the university president or designee, may register for a maximum of twelve credit hours per term at staff fee rates, under the terms and conditions described in the Oregon University System Academic Year Fee Book.
Effective as of Fall Term 2000, eligible employees may transfer their staff fee privileges to family members or domestic partners upon verification that the transferee is a qualified recipient of transferred staff fee privileges.
Information and forms are available online from the Portland State Office of Human Resources or the Oregon University System.
Registering for Audit
To audit a class at no cost, faculty and staff must register using the Special Registration Form and must inform the University Financial Services office to have fees removed from their account.
