Portland State is committed to your success and we are here to help you resolve holds that may be placed on your account for various reasons. Holds are used when there are specific actions students must complete in order to register for classes. Measles Vaccination Requirement Hold
A Measles Requirement Hold is placed on your account if the Measles Vaccine Requirement is not met before or within your first term of enrollment. For more information about this hold and how to resolve it please visit the Measles Vaccine Requirement webpage. Student Health and Counseling (SHAC) also has staff dedicated to assisting students with their Measles vaccine requirement. Contact them by emailing vaccines@pdx.edu.
Financial Holds (Billing & Payment)
Holds preventing either registration or ordering transcripts may be placed on your account for various reasons, including but not limited to:
- prior term balances greater than $0.00
- an account payment that is past due on the 2nd or 3rd installment of the PSU Payment Plan
- a current term balance that is greater than $250 for accounts enrolled in restricted differential tuition courses 4 weeks into the term

Academic Warning Hold
An Academic Warning Hold is placed on your account if your cumulative PSU GPA falls below 2.00. To resolve the hold, you must complete an Academic Success Plan Workshop or have an appointment with your academic advisor. For more information about this hold and how to resolve it please visit the Academic Warning Hold website, or schedule an appointment with your academic advisor. First-Year Mandatory Advising Hold
A First-Year Mandatory Advising Hold is placed on your account if you are a transfer student or freshman and do not meet with your academic advisor in your first two terms at PSU. For more information about this hold and how to resolve it please visit the First-Year Mandatory Advising Holds website, or schedule an appointment with your academic advisor. Admissions Missing Item Hold
A Missing Admissions Item Hold is placed on your account if you are a newly admitted student who has not submitted all final admissions documents (such as final official transcripts) or other required admission materials. If you are a first year, transfer, or postbaccalaureate student with a Missing Admissions Item hold you can contact the Office of Admissions at admissions@pdx.edu or call 503-725-3511. If you are a graduate student with a Missing Admissions Item hold you can contact the Graduate School at gradschool@pdx.edu or call 503-725-8410.
