In collaboration with the Institute on Aging at Portland State University, the White Gallery presents an exhibition of photography from the work the Institute does with students and senior citizens in Nicaragua each year.  Rebecca Cassanova, the Program Coordinator for the Institute, writes:

"This series depicts graduate and undergraduate students from the PSU course, Global Aging and Health:  Enhancing Communities in Nicaragua, working in two communities in Nicaragua to improve the lives of senior citizens in-country.  Now it its sixth year, the course is a fusion of community service projects and academic goals."

The photographs in this series "speak to the power of partnership...as well as to the transformative impact participating in such a program can have for student service learners and older adults.  Nicaragua is the second-poorest country in the Western hemisphere and the work that PSU students accomplish while there makes a significant difference to the communities with which we work."
