May 1 Dutch Oven Cooking 101

Want to make a great FREE meal? Dutch Oven cooking is a great way to create big, hearty, healthy meals on camping trips and at home. This class is geared towards students who have little or no experience cooking with Dutch Ovens (or cooking at all for that matter). During the three hour class students will learn the basics of caring for and cooking with a Dutch Oven. We will make two delicious entrees during class, and finish up by having a great meal. All supplies and ingredients are included, as long as you’re registered!

 

May 10 Coast Day Hike (Women Only)

Escape the stress of midterms and relax on a day hike along the central Oregon coast. Get outside and experience the terrific views and beautiful forests of the central Oregon coast. This hike is for women only (in cooperation with the Women’s Resource Center) and is beginner friendly.

 

May 10 Saddle Mountain Day Hike

 An exhilarating 2.6-mile hike to the highest point in the Oregon Coast Range, Saddle Mountain holds many types of flora as well as views of Mt. Rainer and the Columbia Gorge. With possible elk sightings, get ready for a demanding but rewarding hike on this lava formed mountain.

 

May 11 Ecola State Park Beach Trip

  Student: $22 Faculty/Staff: $26 Public: $48

Pre-Trip Meeting: Wednesday May7th @ 6:00pm in Smith 47a.

Registration Deadline: May 7th @ Noon.

This is a rewarding and picturesque hike along the Oregon coast. Also, you’ll get to see one of Oregon’s premier surfing locations as an added bonus. Only an hour from Portland—come join us. Bring a friend and a camera!

May 23-26 Redwoods Backpacking

  Students: $134 Faculty/Staff: $160 Public:$300

Pre-trip Meeting: Tuesday May 20th @ 6pm in Smith 47a.

Registration Deadline: 5/20 @ Noon.

This adventure will take you through the majestic and mysterious Redwood forests along the spectacular California coast line. This is a beginning level backpacking trip but all levels of experience are welcome. No special skills are needed but a moderate level of physical fitness is expected. We will be hiking 4-6 miles per day with a heavy pack.

 

May 31 Deschutes River Rafting

Students: $38 Faculty/Staff: $46 Public:$83

Join us on this great whitewater experience! This adrenaline filled day on the river should not be missed! Don’t worry about the temperatures as we can provide quality dry or wet suits to keep you warm throughout the day. No experience required.

 

June 16-21 Lost Coast Backpacking

Students: $196 Faculty/Staff:$235 Public:$436

Want to recharge and relax after finals? This is a great trip whether you are brand new to backpacking or a seasoned traveler. With four days of backpacking we will be able to explore Northern California’s Lost Coast, an area with a dramatic landscape of coastline, mountains, and streams.
