Recreate Gallery

The Rec Center is excited to announce it will be creating a gallery space inside the Rec Center behind the Member Services counter that will feature student art on a rotating schedule. To kick off the inaugural opening of the Recreate Gallery, the winning student artist will have a featured solo exhibit that will be up through the Spring/Summer 2012 terms AND win and iPad 2!

OPEN CALL TO PSU STUDENT ARTISTS CAMPUS REC STUDENT RECREATE GALLERY THEME / GENERAL INFORMATION “Movement" is the theme of this exhibit and can relate to any type of movement: physical, metaphysical, spiritual, emotional, spatial etc. One artist will be selected for the Recreate Gallery Spring/Summer exhibit (a new space where PSU student artistsʼ work will be featured), located behind the Member Services area in the Rec Center (ASRC 2nd Floor). The mission of the Recreate Gallery is to promote creativity as a part of a healthy lifestyle.

DEADLINE

Final acceptance of all submissions is March 30, 2012.

JURORS
Jurors are members of the Campus Rec Art Committee and include both professional and
student staff members of Campus Rec.

INAUGURAL AWARD
The inaugural opening of this gallery space will offer a grand prize to the winning artist in the
award of an iPad 2!

ELIGIBIILITY
Open to all students enrolled in one credit or more for Spring Term 2012 at Portland State University.

MEDIA
Media accepted shall include sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed media and
photography. An artist may submit work in more than one media, but each media requires a
separate application.

SUBMISSION / ENTRY GUIDELINES
An Artist may submit up to two artworks in each medium (each must have its own entry form). A
piece may include several parts, including an entire series. Sculpture requires two views of each
piece. All work must be original. The individual or comprised dimensions of 2-D work must not
exceed 70" in width and 30" in height, including a frame and and/or work must fill the space to
50” in width and “20” in height. Each entry must be accompanied by an artistʼs statement. Only
e-mailed entries will be accepted. Please submit photos of original work, attached ENTRY FORM
and artistʼs statement if not included in the entry form to ashrcamp@pdx.edu by March 30, 2012
at 5:00 PM with “Recreate Gallery Spring/Summer 12 Submission – Last Name” in the subject
line. Inquiries may also be made to this address.

NOTIFICATION
Winning artist will be contacted on April 6, 2012.

DELIVERY
Participants must deliver their work in person to the Academic and Student Rec Center (ASRC)
210 no later than 3:00 PM on April 13, 2012.

GRAND OPENING
The winning artistʼs work will be featured from April 23 – August 23, 2012.

Show opens: April 23, 2012
Reception: April 26, 2012
